The Beginning of a Writer’s Journey
I just had a most exciting breakthrough.
For the past year, I had lost all motivation to write a novel. None of my ideas were getting past the planning stage, and I kept getting frustrated. My characters never had goals. The stories never fit into a tried-and-true structures. I couldn’t find strong writing voices. So instead, I decided to just invent worlds and characters and to experiment with different story styles. These stories were my writing sandboxes. And though I never wrote anything for them, they held me over creatively.
But about a month ago, I was inspired to write a novel again.
And today, I found the final puzzle piece for story I began back in 2019.
So I’m going to go for it! I’m going to try and write a novel again. It is going to be slow. I have work and school and friends, and writing just can’t be my top priority. But I’m going to try to write something, and I’m bringing you all along for the ride, because sharing my journey will help motivate and encourage me, and maybe it will motivate and encourage some of you guys, too.
So here we go. The journey is starting.
